POSITION OVERVIEW
As a
Nurse Manager Behavioral Health, your roles and responsibilities will include:
- Assume 24-hour accountability for coordinating resources and ensuring quality service and patient care.
- Provide overall direction and coordination for behavioral health unit operations in alignment with hospital and nursing goals.
- Lead and coordinate nursing staff and multidisciplinary resources to promote positive patient outcomes.
- Establish standards and expectations for personnel within the unit.
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members through active role modeling, rounding, team meetings, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Design and implement unit improvement plans that demonstrate flexibility, creativity, and cost effectiveness.
- Implement evidence-based nursing practices and monitor clinical performance.
- Communicate effectively with hospital leadership regarding staff, physician, clinical, and operational issues.
- Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, regulatory, and accreditation standards governing patient care.
- Monitor hourly rounding and coach staff to ensure consistent and effective completion.
- Identify unit-based indicators related to customer relations, clinical performance, and financial improvement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Most importantly, you need to be a passionate
Nurse Manager Behavioral Health who enjoys their work and is considered to be one of the best within your organization. The ideal
Nurse Manager Behavioral Health would be someone with deep experience in many (if not all) of the following:
- 3 5 years of relevant nursing experience.
- Nursing degree required.
- Current Maryland RN license or eligibility to obtain a Maryland license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Current experience in an inpatient behavioral health facility is strongly preferred.
- Assistant Nurse Manager experience with the desire and ability to progress into a Nurse Manager role is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health nursing practices and patient care standards.
- Experience with staff coaching, mentoring, performance improvement, and evidence-based practices.
- Knowledge of regulatory and accreditation requirements, including applicable patient-care standards.
- Strong communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- APRN-Clinical Nurse Specialist license, ACLS, and PALS are preferred.
