About the Position

The Mississippi State Department of Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to serve as a Nurse Consultant within the Immunization Program. This Time-Limited (NS-14) Nurse Team Lead position provides leadership, supervision, technical guidance, and operational oversight for Immunization Representatives supporting the Vaccines for Children (VFC) and Immunization Quality Improvement for Providers (IQIP) programs. Responsibilities include supervising and evaluating professional nursing staff; coordinating staff workloads and field coverage; monitoring provider compliance activities; reviewing documentation for consistency with CDC and MSDH requirements; providing technical assistance related to vaccine management, eligibility, storage and handling, and provider compliance; assisting with corrective action activities; mentoring and training staff; responding to complex or escalated provider concerns; and coordinating with district leadership and county health departments. The position also supports quality assurance activities, VFC and IQIP visits, statewide training, staff development, provider education, and implementation of updated CDC and MSDH immunization policies and procedures.

The individual should also be comfortable providing technical guidance to staff and healthcare providers, addressing complex or escalated compliance issues, adapting to changes in CDC and MSDH guidance, and supporting consistent program operations.

Preferred Qualifications
