Job Title: Nurse Aide Instructor

Department: Business and Community Solutions

Reports To: Health Education Coordinator

Job Classification: Non-exempt (Hourly), Part-Time, Not Benefit Eligible

Location: Iowa Falls, IA

Rate of Pay: $35/hour

Schedule: Tuesday and Thursdays from 8am-10am

Summary: This position is ideal for experienced nurses who want to teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and other short-term healthcare courses. Classes are currently scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for nine months of the year, providing a predictable and manageable commitment. Instructors also have the flexibility to add additional classes if desired. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who want to share their expertise and make a meaningful impact without the demands of a full-time role.

Job Duties:

  • Teach CNA and related courses in accordance with approved course outlines and DIA (Department of Inspections and Appeals) requirements.
  • Provide CNA clinical instruction in local long-term care facilities.
  • Deliver content using a variety of instructional methods and technologies (in-person, online, and hybrid).
  • Develop and maintain course syllabi and materials.
  • Maintain accurate student and course records to meet state and federal standards.
  • Coordinate with the Health Education Coordinator to schedule classes based on instructor availability and program needs.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities as appropriate.
  • Provide mentorship for new instructors when needed.
  • Maintain a clean and professional instructional environment
  • Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience: Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with active RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state (or ability to obtain). Bachelor's degree in nursing or a related field preferred. Minimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered Nurse. At least 1 year of full-time employment in long-term care strongly preferred but not required. Teaching or training experience preferred.

Certifications and Licenses: Registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state or the ability to obtain one. CPR and Dependent/Chip abuse certification.

Abilities:

  • Strong clinical and instructional skills with a commitment to student success.
  • Flexible and self-motivated, able to manage a PRN schedule.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Open to using new technologies and teaching strategies
