Summary
o Performs nuclear medicine imaging and non-imaging procedures for therapeutic, diagnostic and tracer studies. Assists radiologists and other specialists in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures. Provides procedure-related patient care and education. Maintains records and documentation of procedures.
Responsibilities
o Receives, handles, stores, prepares and administers radiopharmaceuticals according to prescribed dose or protocol and in compliance with Quality Management Plan (QMP for NRC). Administration to patient is directly supervised by a Radiologist.
o Operates needed equipment to produce appropriate images and measure concentrations of radioactive isotopes in specified areas of the body.
o Explains and prepares patients for procedures and assists patient with proper positioning for imaging.
o Practices radiation protection procedures according to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) for patients, self and others. Practices medical and surgical asceptic and sterile techniques.
o Documents patient assessment/history related to procedures and provides patient care and education to meet patient's physical and psychological needs.
o Performs and documents equipment quality control according to department protocols; recognizes and reports any malfunction or variation to supervisor for recommended service or replacement.
o Maintains manual and computerized patient, department, and hospital records. Initiates computer archive functions to store and/or retrieve patient information. Performs associated clerical tasks as needed.
o Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
o Registration with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Nuclear Medicine or with Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
o State of Nevada license for Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
o o American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for Healthcare Providers.
