Position Specific Description

The Maintenance Department Head leads the restoration and long-term sustainment of the maintenance organization at Duane Arnold Energy Center as the plant returns to commercial nuclear operation. This role is responsible for rebuilding a high-performing maintenance workforce, driving execution of facility and system restoration activities, and establishing the programs and culture required for safe, reliable nuclear operations. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise across maintenance disciplines, proven supervisory or management experience in a nuclear environment, and the leadership presence to develop next-generation nuclear workers while delivering results in a dynamic, milestone-driven restart environment.

Job Overview

Leaders in this position (Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument & Control or Support) are responsible for site-wide major maintenance activities. Individuals oversee the management of resources to deliver predictable maintenance activities to achieve objectives for: safety, environmental, quality, schedule, and cost compliance. This position has approximately $4.4 million of budget responsibility.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides direct leadership to leaders and is responsible for all aspects of maintenance department (Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument & Control or Support) work execution and performance
  • Obtains and allocates resources and contract services as required to accomplish corrective, elective and predictive maintenance
  • Partners with Training to create and deliver training (team and individual) on maintenance fundamentals and best practices
  • Ensures compliance with all regulations and policies; and adherance to site-specific ANSI standard requirements
  • Manages the department budget to ensure work is performed timely in a safe and cost effective manner
  • Builds strong succession plan through talent identification, development and mentoring
  • Partners with Union to build and maintain a respectful and effective working relationship
  • Establishes a culture through actions, communications, and decision-making, to directly influence employee morale and engagement
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Equivalent Experience
  • Experience: 10+ Years
  • Nuclear Experience: 3+ Years
  • Leadership Experience: 5+ Years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors - Engineering
  • SRO License - Active, Inactive or Prior
  • Nuclear Senior Reactor Operator Certification
