Employment Type: Long-Term Contract
We are seeking Nuclear Electrical Engineers (Levels II–IV) for a long-term contract opportunity supporting operating commercial nuclear power facilities throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania. This position will support nuclear plant upgrades, engineering modifications, and Extended Power Uprate (EPU) projects.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical design engineering, preferably within commercial nuclear power generation. Responsibilities include electrical calculations, technical evaluations, design development, plant modifications, field verification, and multidisciplinary engineering support.
Develop and review electrical calculations, technical evaluations, specifications, drawings, and engineering design packages.
Support electrical power distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), breakers, motors, generators, cables, and associated equipment.
Perform cable and equipment sizing, load flow, voltage drop, short-circuit, grounding, and protection and coordination studies.
Prepare and review single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, schematics, grounding plans, and raceway designs.
Develop engineering change packages and plant modification documentation.
Conduct field walkdowns to evaluate existing electrical systems and verify plant conditions.
Support engineering design reviews, testing, installation, implementation, and outage activities.
Coordinate with mechanical, instrumentation and controls, civil/structural, and other engineering disciplines.
Ensure engineering deliverables comply with applicable codes, standards, procedures, and nuclear facility requirements.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
Minimum of 2 years of professional electrical design engineering experience, with level determined by experience and licensure.
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred.
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred for higher-level positions.
Experience preparing electrical calculations, specifications, drawings, technical evaluations, and design packages.
Knowledge of electrical power distribution equipment, protection systems, grounding, cable sizing, and electrical design standards.
Commercial nuclear power plant experience strongly preferred, particularly supporting operating facilities.
Experience with plant modifications, engineering changes, field walkdowns, and outage support preferred.
Candidates without nuclear experience must demonstrate directly transferable electrical design experience within power generation, DOE facilities, chemical, petrochemical, or other regulated industrial environments.
Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
Engineering Level Requirements
Engineer II: Minimum 2 years of professional electrical design engineering experience.
Engineer III: Minimum 4 years with a PE license or 6–10 years without a PE license.
Engineer IV: Minimum 7 years with a PE license or 10–15 years without a PE license.
Final engineering level will be determined based on education, licensure, relevant design experience, technical responsibility, and ability to independently manage engineering deliverables.
Candidates must have direct professional electrical design engineering experience. Experience limited to electrical installation, maintenance, operations, construction, project management, or commissioning without engineering design responsibilities will not satisfy the requirements.
Travel to operating nuclear power facilities throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania.
Work in engineering office environments and operating nuclear facilities, including security-controlled and industrial areas.
Perform field walkdowns, including climbing ladders and accessing elevated or confined areas when required.
Support project implementation, scheduled outages, and overtime as needed.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
Must be able to obtain and maintain required nuclear facility access, including unescorted access when applicable.
Must successfully complete required background checks, drug screening, onboarding, training, and site-access requirements.
Must meet applicable U.S. export-control eligibility requirements for assignments involving controlled information or technology.
