JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: PATH Student Advisor - NSHE Wage/Hour Status: $30 p/hr. Reports to: Director of Guidance, Counseling and CCR Pay Grade: NSHE Dept./School: Curriculum & Instruction/Counseling & CCR Department Date Revised: August 2025 Primary Purpose: The incumbent will work with seniors, juniors and PATH students to increase direct to college enrollment, help them prepare to take necessary assessments for college admissions as well as the TSIA2, access post-secondary opportunities, and assist students with programs and processes for college admissions and financial aid. Qualifications: Education/Certification: AA degree or its equivalent of successful completion of college credit hours is required. Completion of a Bachelor's degree is highly desirable. Knowledge/Skills: Excellent in collaboration, organization, and communication skills Proficient in keyboarding skills, the use of District approved software and ability to conduct internet searches with students and parents to access tools and resources. Ability to initiate research into programs and resources to increase student and parent knowledge of college/career opportunities Knowledgeable about the goals of the District for college readiness standards and access to post-secondary options for students Knowledgeable about registration process for college entrance exams as well as experience administering the TSIA Knowledgeable about the enrollment process for dual credit classes Knowledgeable about scholarships' search engines, resources and how to access,as well as deadlines Knowledge of State graduation programs, including endorsements Ability to collect and prioritize data Knowledge of college and financial aid process for college and post-secondary enrollment, including FAFSA and TASFA Knowledge of WorkForce information for alternative college post-secondary options Knowledge of the Texas Higher Education coordinating Board P-16 Initiative Knowledge of interest inventories and college search programs Ability to communicate effectively with parents, students and staff Bilingual skills are highly desirable, but not required. Experience: Experience working with students in a school setting. At least two years of experience with assisting high school students through the college application and/or financial aid process preferred. Experience advising at the college level is highly desirable. Responsibilities and Duties:
Collaborate with the college & Career Counselor as well as other college access partners (including the PATH Teacher) to support for effective implementation of college and career preparation programs
Presentation to parents and students about college/career, financial aid, and scholarships.
Review and advise students on college admissions requirements and help them get connected with college admissions representatives as well as financial aid advisors.
Promote and help student pre-register and access, as well as collaborate with campus team in organizing and leading day of support with campus-wide CC events such as: college fairs, workshops/info sessions, scholarship fair, career fairs and college field trips.
Actively assist in assuring that students learn how to access and begin complementing their career & college planning steps on our comprehensive college & career readiness online platform -SchooLinks.
Assist, track, and monitor seniors in the application process for post-secondary enrollment within SchooLinks
Support in proctoring the TSIA2 (Accuplacer) to PATH students as well as juniors and seniors
Help conduct the Junior & Senior Surveys with juniors and seniors (in late spring)
Researching scholarships and college searches.
Help CC Counselor with the local scholarship applications' process and assist counselors in the Senior Awards Ceremony and the Linebarger Reception.
Collaborate with the College & Career Counselor, PATH teachers and the campus counseling staff.
