This is a role designed for a recent graduate or engineer with limited industry experience who is eager to learn centrifugal compressor design fundamentals. Working under the guidance and mentorship of senior engineers, the NPD Engineer will support concept development, detailed mechanical design, and design verification while building the technical foundation needed to grow into an independent contributor. • Team collaboration: Participate in cross-functional discussions with Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, and Service teams to understand how product requirements translate into design solutions.
  • Product validation: Build centrifugal compressor prototypes to be used for pre-production testing and verification, implementing any lessons learned during the build into the design.
  • Communication: Communicate progress, questions, and roadblocks clearly and proactively to mentors and the team; actively seek feedback to accelerate learning.
  • Travel: Ability to travel, including internationally, up to 5%.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • 0-3 years of related design or product development experience with a solid undergraduate foundation in mechanical design, machine design, mechanics of materials, manufacturing processes, and/or engineering fundamentals.

Preferences:

  • Exposure to turbomachinery, rotating equipment, or pressure-containing equipment through coursework or internships is a plus.
  • Familiarity with CAD/PLM tools (NX and Teamcenter), finite element analysis, or programming is a plus but not required
  • Demonstrated eagerness to learn, strong work ethic, and ability to work in a team environment.

Core Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of computer systems and basic Microsoft Office.
  • Strong command of the English language with the ability to communicate clearly in writing and speech with peers, mentors, and leadership.

  • Self-motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, coachable, and personable, with a genuine desire to receive and act on feedback.
  • Ability to manage assigned contributions within a supportive team environment while developing resilience to change and pressure.

Travel & Work Arrangements / Requirements:

  • The location for this position is Buffalo, NY. 4 days onsite, 1 day remote.
