Position Summary

An Emergency Services Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant has responsibility for delivering and administering comprehensive medical care across the age continuum to patients seeking emergent/urgent medical care. They function within their scope of practice as set forth for Nurse Practitioners by the Oregon State Board of Nursing described in Division 50 of the Oregon Nurse Practice Act or an accredited school for Physician Assistants.

Position Qualifications

Experience

  • 1 year of FNP or PA clinical experience in an emergency department - OR -

May consider one of the following;

  • Post-clinical experience as FNP/PA with a minimum of 2 years in an emergency department 
  • RN experience in similar environment such as urgent care clinic, or an emergency department or a family practice that included urgent care.

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited Physician’s Assistant or Nurse Practitioner Program approved by the American Medical Association is required

Certification/Licensure

  • PA-C: Physician Assistant certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA) AND Licensed by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners (OBME) – OR - NP: Nurse Practitioner licensed by Oregon State Board of Nursing (OSBN) AND RN: Registered Nurse licensed by Oregon State board of Nursing is required
  • BLS: Basic Life Support from the American Heart Association (AHA) is required upon start
  • Required certifications based on area of specialty and define by Asante medical staff services are as follows:
  • Advance Care Nurse Practitioner Certification
  • Must obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges 
  • Must be eligible as a provider for Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal health programs
  • Provider shall meet all qualifications to participate in hospital's programs for professional malpractice and other liability coverage.
