Psychiatric Technician Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support and care to patients with mental health and behavioral health needs.

  • Observe patients and report changes in behavior, mood, or condition to clinical staff.

  • Assist with daily activities, personal care, and routine patient needs as required.

  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.

  • Support patient activities and encourage positive interactions.

  • Assist clinical staff with patient care, transfers, admissions, and other unit activities.

  • Document patient observations and care accurately and timely.

  • Follow facility policies, safety procedures, and confidentiality requirements.

  • Respond appropriately to behavioral or psychiatric emergencies under the direction of clinical staff.




Minimum Qualifications 

  • Current, valid, and unrestricted CA license/certification in good standing, as required for the position.

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED)

  • American Heart Association BLS, for Heath Care Providers

  • 1+ years’ experience in behavioral health

  • Previous customer service and/or patient related experience preferred.

  • Additional certifications may be required.

  • Copy of current, completed Primary Source Verification (PSV) from the appropriate licensing board or verification agency, if required.

  • Copy of all current required certifications and compliance documents (e.g., .BLS, N95 fit test, immunization records, TB test, or other client-specific requirements).
