Description

Title: Non-Licensed Staff Member Mentor Coordinator (Pilot Mentoring Program)

Assignment: Stipend / voluntary extra-duty role

Reports To: Chief Human Resources Officer

Location: Deerfield High School, Highland Park High School, or Transportation Building

Term: One school year (August 2026- June 2027)

Pay: $1500 for the school year

Summary: The Mentoring Program Coordinator provides district-wide leadership for the Non-Licensed Staff Mentorship Pilot, supporting new hires in non-licensed positions including Administrative Assistants, Building/Grounds/Maintenance & Security, Educational Support Personnel, Intensive Special Education Paraprofessionals and Transportation roles across both high schools, the transportation building and the administration building. The Coordinator partners with Human Resources to secure and screen mentor volunteers, oversees mentor/mentee matching, and monitors the progress of every pair throughout the school year.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a non-licensed role within the district
  • Not currently serving in a supervisory role
  • Satisfactory performance evaluation; supervisor recommendation or approval
  • Willingness to complete the required mentor training
  • Willingness to work with multiple mentees throughout the year including those with different roles

Essential Functions:

  • Work with HR to recruit, screen, and secure mentor volunteers across all pilot sites and staff categories
  • Facilitate the matching of mentors and mentees based on role, location, and schedule compatibility
  • Collaborate with HR to plan and facilitate mentor training
  • Check in regularly on the progress of each mentor/mentee pair; collect and review monthly check-in notes
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for mentors, mentees, and supervisors throughout the pilot year
  • Plan and facilitate at least two group mentor/mentee gatherings (one per semester) to share insights and address challenges
  • Distribute and track completion of mentee self-assessment, mid-year, and end-of-year surveys
  • Intervene and coordinate a re-match if a mentoring pair is struggling
  • Track participation, meeting completion rates, and survey response data across the district
  • Compile the end-of-year pilot evaluation report and present findings and recommendations to district leadership
  • Maintain the confidentiality of all conversations with mentors and mentees, disclosing information only when required due to a safety concern, mandatory reporting obligation, or serious policy violation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, uphold district values, and help foster a welcoming, supportive culture for new staff throughout their onboarding experience.

Language Skills

Communicates clearly both in oral and written format with all constituents of the District 113 community. Effectively present information and respond to questions from constituency groups. Apply knowledge of current research and theory in a specific field. Establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with students, staff and the school community. Perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Mathematical and Technical Skills

Calculate figures, estimates, proportions, percentages, and cost projections. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Strong technology skills, including standard Microsoft Office suite / Google Workspace, financial management, and data analysis. .

Reasoning Ability

Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Interpret an extensive variety of verbal and written instructions and deal with multiple abstract and concrete variables.

  • The employee is regularly required to meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with the public and staff in addition to meeting multiple demands from several people.
