Job Title: Non-Faculty Coach (Seasonal) Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Previous coaching experience preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of the assigned sport.
Ability to establish positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and community members.
Must successfully complete all required background checks and district onboarding requirements.
Must meet all Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) requirements for non-faculty coaches.
Must maintain certifications and training required by the district, state, and AHSAA.
Non-faculty coaches may not supervise student-athletes without a certified employee present unless specifically authorized by district policy and AHSAA regulations.
Performance will be evaluated by the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Principal in accordance with district expectations and athletic department procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Assist the head coach in planning, organizing, and conducting practices and athletic contests.
Instruct student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and rules of the sport.
Promote good sportsmanship, character development, teamwork, and leadership.
Maintain appropriate supervision of student-athletes during practices, competitions, travel, and related activities.
Assist in monitoring student-athlete conduct and adherence to team expectations.
Support efforts to promote academic achievement among student-athletes.
Follow all policies, procedures, and regulations established by Pelham City Schools, the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA), and the athletic department.
Maintain confidentiality regarding students and personnel matters.
Attend required meetings, professional development sessions, and compliance training.
Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, staff, and community members.
Assist with equipment inventory, facilities, and other program responsibilities as assigned.
Serve as a positive role model and representative of Pelham City Schools at all times.
Perform other duties as assigned by the head coach, athletic director, principal, or superintendent.
Terms of Employment This position is a seasonal coaching assignment and does not constitute employment as a certified or classified employee of Pelham City Schools.
