Non-Clinical - Information Technology - Analyst

The UCSF Patient Care Access team supports the organization's goal to be the #1 Health System in Northern California in health care value, patient experience, and employee engagement by ensuring our ambulatory clinics provide timely access to care for our patients. The Ambulatory Capacity Management team supports Patient Care Access by designing, building, and managing the scheduling templates of physicians and advanced practice providers.

Working title: Template Analyst

Schedule: 0800-1700 PST

Location: Hybrid-onsite Emeryville and/or multiple UCSF locations 1-3 consecutive days, 2-4 times per year

Client is looking for candidates with hands-on experience in Epic Cadence scheduling template builds and management, basic knowledge of decision trees, and experience onboarding clinicians to improve patient access.

Epic Cadence certificate preferred (not required)


Job Function Summary:
Involves the design, building, testing, and implementation of clinical application systems. Provides support to clinical users through knowledge of clinical processes, documentation needs, workflows, and clinical practice standards, when adapting software to meet their needs. Works with clinicians to create or adapt written protocols. Prepares detailed specs encompassing clinical processes, information flow, risk and impact analysis. May provide customer service, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Performs duties pertaining to scheduling templates, managing all incoming change requests for provider templates in EPIC/Apex. Responsible for determining impact on decision trees and maintaining organization standards.

Custom Scope:
Applies acquired skills and professional clinical applications concepts for small to medium sized projects of moderate scope. Operates independently within defined scope of responsibilities.

Reports into the FPO Supervisor of Ambulatory Capacity Management. Template builder is responsible for creating, analyzing, and supporting provider and ancillary templates. Serves as the subject matter expert for template design and build through analysis of provider utilization reports. Scope includes template design and management for provider schedules.

Performs duties pertaining to scheduling templates, managing all incoming change requests for provider templates in EPIC. Responsible for determining impact on decision trees and maintaining organization standards.

Template Maintenance Team identifies and proactively mitigate issues which create barriers to ambulatory access and patient flow.

The UCSF Faculty Practice Organization (FPO) is made of up of more than 2,500 clinicians across multiple campuses and satellite clinics. The UCSF Patient Care Access team supports the organization's goal to be the #1 Health System in Northern California in health care value, patient experience, and employee engagement by ensuring our ambulatory clinics provide timely access to care for our patients. We strive to provide care when, where and how our patients need it. The team works closely with practices to support improvement efforts and with various departments across the organization (e.g. marketing, IT) to set strategic goals and develop innovative patient care access solutions.
The Ambulatory Capacity Management team supports Patient Care Access by designing, building, and managing the scheduling templates of physicians and advanced practice providers. The team provides a high level of customer service to ambulatory clinic physicians and administrators. Responsibilities include adherence to scheduling template design best practices, execution of service level agreements, alignment with UCSF Clinical Systems change control policies, and support of Patient Access capacity objectives.
