Non-Clinical - Facilities - Stationary Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY Under direct supervision of the Plant Operations & Maintenance Manager when performing planning, organizing and coordination, and supervision of minor projects and general corrective and preventive maintenance of equipment and building systems throughout the Hospital campus as directed. Graveyard shift: 10:30pm-6:30am Required: High School diploma or equivalent preferred Current LA City Steam Engineers Unlimited License Minimum 2-3 years experience as Operating Engineer.

Graveyard shift: 10:30pm-6:30am Required: High School diploma or equivalent preferred Current LA City Steam Engineers Unlimited License Minimum 2-3 years experience as Operating Engineer. Maintenance and repair experience of major equipment. Require a valid California Driver s License. LA City Fire card with-in 6 months of employment Preferred: Hospital experience preferred Knowledge of Hazardous materials (HVAC and Boiler Systems) PERSONAL QUALITIES Repeated bending, squatting and stooping. Occasionally lifting of heavy weights from 100 to 150 pounds assisted. Ability to do prolonged standing and walking for entire 8-hour shift. Climbing of ladders and scaffolding. Ability to run up and down several flights of stairs. May be exposed to hazards from use of tools, power equipment and materials. Talking and hearing essentials to communicate with co-workers, supervisors and hospital staff. Good communications skills, read and write English fluently. Ability to remain calm in stressful or emergency situations. Near visual acuity necessary for close work on equipment as well as prepared of reports. SPECIFIC SKILLS NEEDED Good record keeping skills, dependability, good physical condition. Good judgment, common sense, honest, reliable, ability to work with little or no direct supervision. Identify potential problems during shift rounds, develop corrective actions, and provide adequate follow through.
