Description

Summary:

  • Schedule: Mon-Fri 0800-1700
  • Work Mode: Hybrid-2 days/week at 490 Illinois Street, 4th Floor, San Francisco, CA

Responsibilities:

  • Provide analytical, financial, and training activities to support contract and grant proposal development, grant-writing, funding, administration, and budget development.
  • Coordinate pre-award proposal initiatives, manage funds post-award, and conduct closeout activities for various sponsors.
  • Analyze research funding trends and sources, forecast, plan, and manage research portfolios.
  • Coordinate, identify, develop, and present proposals, contracts, and other agreements.
  • Review proposals to ensure institutional compliance and program success.
  • Negotiate, administer, and monitor contract and grant awards, ensuring compliance with regulations, terms, and conditions.
  • Manage financial reporting and sub-award/subcontract issuance and administration.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors.
  • Advanced knowledge of compliance requirements related to human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
  • Ability to manage a significant volume of transactions.
  • Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations and cost principles.
  • Advanced competence in spreadsheet and database software for budget estimations and projections.
  • Independent judgment and strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and identify workable solutions.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced skills in using software applications such as Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to provide quality customer service and interface with various levels of faculty, staff, and departments.
  • Ability to work independently and possess a pro-active approach.
  • Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working with UCSF faculty and UCSF research administration business processes.
  • Familiarity with electronic systems used to manage research administration (e.g., eProposal, Proposal Express, Grants.gov).
