    Non-CDL Truck Driver

    Metals USA -- Gregor Technologies Division is seeking a Non-CDL Truck Driver in Torrington, CT. Metals USA is a solid, growth-oriented aluminum/stainless steel distribution center servicing the defense, aerospace, and fabrication industries.

    The Non-CDL Truck Driver completes assigned deliveries and pick-up of merchandise and assists with shipping and receiving responsibilities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Drives a van and/or box truck to transport and deliver materials
    • Maneuvers truck into loading and unloading positions.
    • Operates company vehicle in a professional, safe and courteous manner.
    • Routinely inspects and maintains vehicle daily, complete driver''s logs and reports in compliance with FMCSR daily.
    • Picks up and accurately delivers merchandise and corresponding paperwork in a timely manner.
    • Keeps a clean and well maintained delivery vehicle, internal and external.
    • Ensures customer messages/communications are relayed to appropriate management.
    • Secures loaded cargo into truck; safely load & unload materials using a winch, hoist and/or forklift.
    • Delivers paperwork and communications between Gregor Technologies, customers and vendors.
    • Assists with stocking the shipping and receiving department to include lifting and carrying cartons and placing them on appropriate shelves.
    • Maintains work areas in a clean, orderly and safe manner to include returning tools to designated areas.
    • Notifies management of product discrepancies or malfunctions, and or personal injuries.
    • Adheres to established company policies and procedures paying special attention to safety regulations.
    • Regular and predictable attendance is required to perform the duties of a truck driver.
    • Adheres to Reliance Code of Conduct as well as customer confidentiality requirements.
    • Wears personal protective equipment in accordance with training guidelines.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Certifications/Licenses:

    • Valid driver''s license -- in good standing with the State and Federal Regulatory Agencies.
    • Valid OSHA Forklift Certification

    Physical Demands:

    Occupation requires physical activity more than 66% of the time (> 5.5 hours per day)

    • Stand, walk, sit, handling/fingering, reach outward, reach above shoulder, climb, squat or kneel or bend
    • Lift, carry, push and/or pull 51 -- 100 lbs. with assistance

    Other Physical Requirements:

    Must wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE)

    • Steel-toed boots
    • Hard hats with chin straps; chin straps must be worn at all time in the warehouse and customer warehouse
    • Protective eyewear
    • Hand protection
    • Arm guards/sleeves
    • Hearing protection if required by the hearing conservation program

    Work Environment:

    May be exposed to some of the following working conditions.

    • Drive an enclosed truck on a daily basis
    • Work outdoors while loading and unloading
    • Work indoors while driving or filling out paperwork
    • Exposure to different elements, ranging from very hot to very cold temperatures, rain and snow
    • Exposure to contaminants, such as diesel fuel or exhaust fumes
    • Noise
    • Full body vibration when driving a truck
    • Oils, dust, fumes and metallic particles
    • Exposed to bright or dim lighting conditions, day or night
