    New Jersey Youth Corps Program - Job Descriptions Community Service Coordinator / Crew-Leader (1.0 FTE) Position Summary: The Community Service Coordinator/Crew-Leader will oversee the development, coordination, and supervision of community service learning projects for all NJYC Corpsmembers. This role ensures that Corpsmembers participate in structured, meaningful service experiences aligned with their career pathways and community needs. Key Responsibilities: Design and implement crew-based and individual community service learning projects in partnership with schools, municipalities, and non-profit organizations. Ensure that all Corpsmembers participate in at least 10 hours per week of service learning. Develop and maintain MOUs with community service project sponsors. Supervise Corpsmembers during service projects, promoting teamwork, safety, and skill-building. Maintain accurate records including the Crew-Based Community Service Project Detail forms and Individual Worksite Agreements. Ensure service projects include at least one environmentally focused initiative per cohort. Coordinate transportation for service sites as needed. Support Corpsmembers' career development through mentoring and skill development during projects. Counselor (0.5 FTE) Position Summary: The Counselor is responsible for delivering individualized and group counseling services that support the academic, career, and personal development of NJYC Corpsmembers. Counseling is integral to identifying and addressing barriers and providing appropriate referrals. Key Responsibilities: Conduct intake interviews with each Corpsmember to establish rapport and identify barriers. Develop and update the Individual Service Strategy (ISS) and Transition ISS in coordination with other staff. Provide bi-weekly individual counseling sessions to review goals, monitor progress, and provide motivation and support. Facilitate referrals to external support services (e.g., mental health, housing, childcare) and assist Corpsmembers with navigating these resources. Maintain confidential counseling logs and documentation of all sessions and referrals. Collaborate with instructional staff and the Transition Coach to support holistic Corpsmember development. Provide pregnancy prevention counseling as required. Transition Coach (0.75 FTE) Position Summary: The Transition Coach leads the NJYC Transition Services component, preparing Corpsmembers for life after Stage I through targeted planning, guidance, and post-corps placement support. Key Responsibilities: Initiate transition counseling with Corpsmembers at least four weeks before Stage I completion. Guide Corpsmembers in creating a Transition ISS that includes career pathway updates, post-program goals, and supportive services. Identify and assist with placement into post-secondary education, job training, employment, apprenticeships, or other qualified placements. Coordinate with One-Stop Career Centers for AOSOS registration and alignment with WIOA services. Provide follow-up support for 180 days after Stage I completion, including regular check-ins and problem-solving with placement providers. Collaborate with the CAP Services Coordinator to identify Corpsmembers eligible for CAP services and support their enrollment and participation. Career Advancement Program (CAP) Services Coordinator (0.5 FTE) Position Summary: The CAP Services Coordinator manages all aspects of the Career Advancement Program for eligible Corpsmembers, including the coordination of occupational training, paid work experiences, and the administration of individual training accounts (ITAs). Key Responsibilities: Recruit and evaluate Corpsmembers for CAP eligibility and support the creation of individualized CAP Training Plans. Coordinate CAP services aligned with each Corpsmember's career goals, including occupational training and/or paid work experience placements. Track the use of ITA funds (up to $5,000 per participant), ensuring expenditures align with approved services such as tuition, supplies, stipends, and supportive services. Establish agreements with training providers and worksite sponsors; monitor quality and compliance. Promote CAP opportunities to Corpsmembers and employers; facilitate hiring of successful trainees. Collect and maintain CAP documentation including credentials, time sheets, and placement verification. Communicate regularly with Corpsmembers and partners to assess progress and provide ongoing support.
