Night Shift Supervisor - Plastic Injection Molding

This role is responsible for leading and coordinating production employees, overseeing injection molding operations, and ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are consistently met. The Shift Supervisor will work closely with Mold Setters, Material Handlers, Quality, and Management to ensure efficient and safe manufacturing operations.

MMI Engineered Solutions is currently seeking a hands-on, results-driven Shift Supervisor to join our Production team. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating production employees, overseeing injection molding operations, and ensuring safety, quality, and production goals are consistently met. The Shift Supervisor will work closely with Mold Setters, Material Handlers, Quality, and Management to ensure efficient and safe manufacturing operations.This position is highly hands-on and floor-focused, requiring direct involvement in production, mold changes, job startups, troubleshooting, and employee supervision. This is not a desk-only supervisory role.Shift Schedule: Monday through Wednesday 12:00am-6:15am and alternating Thursday/Friday or Saturday/Sunday 6:00pm-6:15am.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction & Floor Supervision: Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production employees including operators, assemblers, inspectors, and material handlersEnsure all safety, quality, and production standards are consistently followedPlan and assign work, monitor production schedules, and adjust staffing to meet production goals and earned hoursOversee job setups, mold changes, startups, and shutdowns to ensure jobs run efficiently and meet quality standardsTroubleshoot equipment, process, and quality issues and implement corrective actions as neededMonitor production rates, scrap, and efficiency; communicate issues impacting cost, quality, or deliveryEnsure work cells are properly set up, organized, and compliant with safety and quality requirementsCoordinate with Mold Setters, Material Handlers, Quality, and Management to ensure smooth production operationsStop production for safety or quality concernsAdministrative Responsibilities:Maintain daily production reporting, attendance records, and shift handoff communicationTrain, coach, and evaluate employees; support employee development and performance managementVerify employees are properly trained and following standard work and safety proceduresReview previous shift issues including quality alerts, scrap, and production concernsCommunicate with other supervisors and management regarding production, staffing, and operational issuesRequired Qualifications3–5 years of supervisory experience in an injection molding manufacturing environmentStrong knowledge of injection molding processes, materials, and equipmentExperience with mold setup, process startup, and troubleshootingDemonstrated leadership ability including training, coaching, and performance managementAbility to read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedulesStrong problem-solving and decision-making skillsBasic math and computer skills required (Microsoft Office; IQMS experience a plus)Ability to work flexible hours and weekends as needed to meet production demandsWork Environment & Expectations:Manufacturing-floor–focused role with significant hands-on involvement Standing, reaching, bending, lifting items (up to 50lbs), stepping in and out of certain equipment.Standing and walking for extended periods in areas that may be hot, noisy, and dusty.May require operation of manual and power hand tools.Commitment to safety, ergonomics, and environmental standardsWhy Work at MMI?A rich Benefits Package including Medical, Dental, Vision, Long and Short-Term Disability (Company Paid), a robust Wellness Program, tuition reimbursement, and a 401(k) Retirement Plan with matching.Vacation and Sick TimeUp to Ten (10) paid holidays (including one diversity holiday)Perfect Attendance and Employee Referral Bonus opportunities (up to $200 per referral)Opportunities for growth and job training, for energetic, career-minded individuals.Located in Saline, MI just minutes from Planet Fitness, Emagine Saline, and hundreds of local businesses!Who We Are:MMI is a plastic injection molding and engineering solutions provider headquartered in Saline, Michigan, with offices in Troy, Warren, and Monterrey, Mexico.
