Position Details:
Position Type: Full Time / Contract (24+ Months)
Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite Night Shift

Compensation: $60 - $70/hr, depending on experience


Overview/Summary:
Our Client is seeking an experienced Night Shift Construction Inspector to support building construction projects. This is a full-time, onsite night shift position providing field inspection services during nighttime construction operations.

The Construction Inspector will serve as the Client's representative in the field, ensuring construction activities are performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, safety requirements, quality standards, contract documents, and applicable regulations.

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated professional with extensive experience in construction inspection, contractor coordination, documentation, quality assurance, and stakeholder communication.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform field inspections of construction activities during night shift operations.
  • Verify compliance with approved plans, specifications, contract documents, permits, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor contractor workmanship, construction methods, materials, and installation practices.
  • Inspect earthwork, paving, utility installations, structures, maintenance of traffic, and related infrastructure components.
  • Identify and document deficiencies, non-conforming work, and required corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and witness field testing activities performed by laboratories and specialty consultants.
  • Review material certifications, test reports, and inspection records.
  • Maintain detailed daily inspection reports and quality documentation.
  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with OSHA requirements, project safety plans, and site-specific safety procedures.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and commitment to zero incidents.
  • Prepare and maintain daily inspection reports using agency- and client-approved software platforms.
  • Document quantities, contractor Client, equipment utilization, weather conditions, project progress, and field observations.
  • Maintain photographic records of construction activities and project milestones.
  • Assist with preparation of punch lists, field memoranda, and non-compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate closely with contractors, project managers, engineers, utility companies, and client representatives.
  • Attend progress meetings, nightly coordination meetings, and pre-construction briefings.
  • Provide timely updates regarding schedule impacts, quality concerns, and construction conflicts.
  • Support resolution of field issues while maintaining contractual compliance.
  • Track progress against construction schedules and identify potential delays.
  • Review work zone setups and temporary traffic control devices.
  • Verify project records necessary for pay estimates and contract administration.


Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of construction inspection experience supporting buildings, civil infrastructure, or public works projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working independently during night shift construction operations.
  • Strong understanding of construction plans, specifications, standards, and contract documents.
  • Experience documenting field observations and preparing detailed inspection reports.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and industry best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic project documentation systems.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with agency documentation systems and electronic field reporting platforms.


Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk uneven terrain, climb ladders, and access active construction areas.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during shift operations.
  • Ability to work night shifts, weekends, and occasional extended hours as required by project schedules.


Important Schedule Requirement:
This is a FULL-TIME, ONSITE NIGHT SHIFT position. Candidates must be comfortable working consistently onsite during nighttime construction operations.
