    Position Summary

    The Night Auditor is responsible for the overnight operation of Benny's Colville Inn, ensuring a smooth and secure guest experience while performing the nightly financial audit, reconciling all revenue transactions, and preparing the property for the next business day. This role is a trusted position requiring strong attention to detail, independent judgment, and the ability to deliver exceptional service to guests during late-night and early-morning hours


    Key Responsibilities

    Front Desk & Guest Services

    • Serve as the sole on-site representative of the hotel from 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, handling all guest needs with professionalism and urgency.

    • Process check-ins and check-outs, issue room keys, and assign rooms using the OpenHotel PMS.

    • Respond promptly to guest inquiries, requests, and complaints; resolve issues independently or escalate appropriately.

    • Post room charges, incidental charges, and payments accurately in the PMS.

    • Answer phone calls, take reservations, and provide information about the hotel and local area (including outdoor recreation, local dining, and services in the Colville and Stevens County area).

    • Perform wake-up calls and manage guest requests for luggage assistance, directions, or local information.


    Nightly Audit & Financial Reconciliation

    • Run and balance the nightly audit in OpenHotel PMS, ensuring all revenue, rooms, and transactions from the prior business day are properly closed.

    • Reconcile room revenue, food & beverage charges, payment processing, and miscellaneous charges.

    • Verify that all credit card transactions have been settled and flag any discrepancies for the General Manager.

    • Prepare and distribute daily revenue reports, including occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR summaries.

    • Compile the Night Audit Report package and leave it ready for management review at the start of the business day.

    • Identify and correct posting errors; communicate unresolved variances clearly in shift handoff notes.


    Safety, Security & Property Oversight

    • Conduct regular property oversights throughout the shift to monitor security, safety, and overall property conditions.

    • Monitor entrance and parking areas; report and document any suspicious activity.

    • Respond to emergency situations (fire, medical, weather) per established SOPs and coordinate with emergency services as required.

    • Enforce quiet hours and hotel policies; address noise complaints and guest conduct issues, if any, courteously and firmly.

    • Complete and log all required safety checks (exterior doors, laundry, equipment) per the Night Audit Checklist.


    Administrative & Shift Handoff

    • Complete all items on the Night Audit Checklist before the end of shift.

    • Log all significant events, guest concerns, and maintenance needs in the shift log.

    • Prepare housekeeping reports and occupancy lists for the morning team.

    • Restock and organize the front desk area; ensure supplies are available for the day shift.

    • Brief the incoming Morning Agent on any outstanding guest changes, pending arrivals, or maintenance concerns.


    Qualifications

    Required

    • High school diploma or equivalent.

    • Minimum 1 year of customer service experience; hotel front desk experience strongly preferred.

    • Proficiency with computers and point-of-sale or property management software; ability to learn OpenHotel PMS.

    • Basic math skills and comfort with financial reconciliation and cash handling.

    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision during overnight hours.

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills for guest interaction and shift documentation.

    • Must be available to work overnight shifts including weekends and holidays.

    • Must be 18 years of age or older.


    Preferred

    • Prior night audit experience at a hotel or motel.

    • Experience with Microsoft Excel for spreadsheet input.

    • Experience with QuickBooks or general accounting software.

    • CPR/First Aid certification a plus.

    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.


    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to stand, walk, and remain alert for the duration of an 8-hour overnight shift.

    • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs (luggage assistance, supply restocking).

    • Ability to perform property walks including stairwells and exterior areas in varying weather conditions.

    • Ability for some sidewalk snow removal if needed.
