Job Story

The Engineering Design and Mod team is looking for a student assistant to help with daily tasks.

Job Duties

This position will support various diverse program efforts as a design assistant. Tasks include detail modeling of airframe structural/system details, drawing creation using dimensioning and tolerancing, and modelling parts from existing scans and drawings. Extensive design handbooks and recommended practices are used to efficiently design metallic parts, composite parts, and system components. The design assistant will execute changes to CATIA and 3DX models, drawings and other documents in support of the product and engineering team.

Additional Requirements

The design student assistant designs structure, mechanical, systems, and interior components on various company projects and programs across the entire life cycle of design and development. Design activity includes primary structure, systems, interiors, and standard parts libraries. The intern will work within a team environment and be expected to perform independent research activity, communicate with team effectively, and work to specified schedules and timelines.

  • Working toward a degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Sophomore or higher preferred.
  • Experience and interest in 3D CAD tools (3DExperience, CATIA V5, Siemens NX, Solidworks, etc.)
  • Experience and interest in mechanical systems and/or structure design/build.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (word, excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and driven to produce high quality work on schedule.
