Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in the control room breaking news
- Pitch stories and segment ideas regularly
- Research topics using the Internet, video archives, and other information sources.
- Select strongest possible elements to help best tell stories.
- Write, organize, and produce scripts and elements for show and interview segments or packages.
- Assist in preparing and executing live, compelling television newscasts.
- Keep Executive Producer and Senior Producer apprised of developments of stories.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Executive Producer and Senior Producer or network leadership.
- Mentor other staff members.
Requirements & Skills:
- Flexibility to work different shifts
- Experience producing for a national news program or producing newscasts in a top 10 market
- Experience covering politics and government
- Strong news judgement
- Quick decision maker and creative thinker
- Effective coach and mentor to staff of all experience levels
- Collaborative team player who advocates for their show but find ways to elevate network reporting
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to adapt to change, meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency with ENPS
Salary Range: $66,300 to 80,000 (per experience)
