NEW Substitute Teacher/Aide/Nurse/Secretary

THIS APPLICATION IS ONLY FOR PERSONS WHO ARE NOT ON THE CURRENT APPROVED SUBSTITUTE LIST.

It is the desire of the Port Neches-Groves Independent School District to have substitute teachers who hold Texas Teaching Certificates. Non-certified substitute teachers are used when certified substitutes are unavailable. In pursuit of this aim, three classifications of substitute teachers are maintained.

• A Class I substitute is one who holds a four-year degree and certified to teach in the public schools of Texas.
• A Class II substitute is one who has a four-year degree but is not certified.
• A Class III substitute is one has neither the four-year degree nor certificate. Associate degrees are classified as Class III

Please note that, in order to be added to the 2026-27 sub list, every new and returning sub must attend one of two mandatory Operations Staff Academy trainings, which will be held on the following dates:

Wednesday, August 5th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Lunch break from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

OR

Tuesday, February 16th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Lunch break from 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Substitute applicants who have cleared their background check and submitted all necessary paperwork will receive further information by email, including a link to sign up for the training date of their choice.

Only approved substitutes will be made eligible for substitute teaching. Official approval will be given when all necessary transcripts, certificates and forms have been submitted and attendance at the substitute in-service has been verified.
