Your mission: Launch exterior systems that set the standard

Why this role matters

Magna Engineered Glass and Magna Exteriors rely on disciplined NPI to translate demanding customer specs into robust, manufacturable designs. You’ll be the technical driver from concept to validation—owning deliverables, solving complex problems, and ensuring we launch right the first time.

Core responsibilities

• Drive end-to-end product engineering in line with Automotive Standards and Customer Specifications.
• Champion DfMA with the design group to improve safety, speed, cost, and assembly efficiency.
• Act as the Customer Specification SME; ensure the frozen design meets/exceeds all requirements.
• Run CR/CN workflows in Magna Change X; accelerate resolution with tight tracking.
• Plan and lead technical work across product, process, tooling, and materials.
• Apply 8D, DOE, DFSS, and rigorous engineering analysis to resolve component/subsystem/assembly issues.
• Lead customer-facing VA/VE activities; benchmark and implement best-fit products, processes, and materials.
• Coordinate mockups, rapid prototypes, and development testing to de-risk concepts.
• Capture lessons learned and embed best practices across programs.
• Support prototype, pre-production, and production builds on-site as needed.
• Safeguard IP and deliver on departmental and project objectives.
• Strengthen internal/external customer relationships and cross-functional alignment.
• Partner with Program Management on product/process development, prototype tooling, and builds.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering/Technical field.
• 4–9 years’ experience with direct customer/supplier interaction, new product launches, gated launch, Automotive OEM programs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Negotiation and public speaking skills.
• Travel up to 25% during peak launches.
• Comfort operating on the manufacturing floor and at customer sites; ability to occasionally lift/move up to 35 pounds.

Required

• Strong mathematics capability.
• GD&T literacy; blueprint reading.
• Agile and/or Waterfall timeline management.
• Creation/maintenance of DFMEA, DVP, open issues, and schedules.

Desired

• ASME GD&T certification.
• VA/VE certification.
• SAE Product Engineering Tools & Methods certificate.
• Six Sigma Belt certification.
• CAD knowledge.

Work setting

• Manufacturing environment with extended on-floor engagement during pre- and post-production build and launch.
• On-site customer support as requested.
