We are looking for an experienced Emergency Room RN to provide high-quality emergency care to a diverse patient population in a Level III Trauma Center with STEMI and stroke receiving capabilities.

The ideal candidate must have strong recent Emergency Department experience, including Level I or Level II trauma experience within the past 2 years.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients with a wide range of emergency conditions.
  

• Perform patient assessments, triage, stabilization, and ongoing monitoring.
  

• Care for trauma, cardiac, stroke, pediatric, and other emergency patients.
  

• Manage patient assignments with typical ratios of 1:5 for medical patients and 1:6 for fast track.
  

• Utilize the ESI triage system.
  

• Administer medications and manage critical-care/ICU drips for appropriate ED hold patients.
  

• Perform IV starts, blood draws, medication administration, and other emergency nursing procedures.

• 52-bed Emergency Department
  

• 4 trauma bays
  

• 6 fast-track beds
  

• Approximately 200 patients per day
  

• Two quick-look triage areas
  

• ESI triage system
  

• Level III Trauma Center
  

• STEMI and stroke receiving capabilities
  

• Stroke patients requiring intervention may be transferred to a higher-level facility
  

• ED holds are intermixed within the department
  

• 24/7 security presence
  

• Wide variety of emergency diagnoses and patient populations
  

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
  

• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room experience
  

• Recent Level I or Level II Trauma experience within the past 2 years is required
  

• Candidates with only Level III or lower trauma experience will not be considered
  

• Strong emergency and trauma nursing experience
  

Experience with gunshot wounds and stabbing patients is a plus.

Clinical Support

• Emergency physicians and mid-level providers available on varied shifts
  

• Pediatric board-certified providers available
  

• Respiratory Therapy support available 24/7
  

• ED technicians assist with EKGs, vital signs, blood draws, and splinting
  

• Monitor technicians available; RNs are responsible for reading their own telemetry
  

• Dedicated CT and X-ray services within the ED
  

• Transport team available for imaging and critical patient transfers
  

• No dedicated phlebotomy team; ED technicians and RNs perform blood draws
  

Scheduling

• Night Shift: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM
  

• Modified self-scheduling
  

• Various shift start times may be available based on staffing needs
  

• Weekend Requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
  

• Holiday Requirement: Typically 2 of 5 major holidays, including eves
  

• May float to a nearby freestanding emergency department approximately 15 minutes away. Floating is generally scheduled in advance.
  

Orientation

• 1 NEO/orientation day
  

• 1 day of clinical/Epic orientation
  

• 1 day of floor/department orientation
