This position supports that mission by assisting in the flow of new goods inventory and ensuring merchandise is prepared and presented for sale efficiently and effectively. Position SummaryThe New Goods & Merchandising Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of the New Goods and Merchandising team. This position assists with sorting, pricing, and preparing merchandise for retail while working in warehouse conditions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of performing physical tasks throughout the day. Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Sort and organize new goods merchandise according to established standards.
- Price individual items based on guidelines provided by the Manager.
- Lift, move, and transport merchandise throughout the warehouse and retail staging areas.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the new goods processing area.
- Assist in preparing merchandise for seasonal promotions or store display changes.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines during daily operations.
- Collaborate with the New Goods & Merchandising Manager to prioritize and complete daily tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support team and organizational goals.
Requirements- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Prior retail, warehouse, or merchandising experience is a plus but not required.
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment and perform physical tasks regularly.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Basic math skills for pricing items accurately.
- Positive attitude towards assigned tasks and displaying a strong work ethic aligned with
Goodwill Mississippi mission. - Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership.
Physical Requirements- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the workday.
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely.
- Work is primarily conducted in a warehouse or backroom setting, which may be subject to varying temperatures.
Additional Requirements- Must be able to pass a pre and post hire background check and drug screening.
- Availability to work at various sites within the Goodwill Mississippi service area with limited notice.
