    Description

    A 523-bed acute care medical and surgical hospital in Gainesville is seeking a Registered Nurse to join its Neurology unit. This facility is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center, fully accredited by The Joint Commission, and holds additional designations including an Accredited Chest Pain Center by the American College of Cardiology and a Blue Distinction Center for Spine Surgery and Bariatric Surgery.

    Position Overview

    The Neurology RN provides direct, patient-centered care to individuals with neurological conditions across a fast-paced inpatient setting. This role requires strong assessment skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient status while working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary care team.

    A strong focus of this position is patient and family education, ensuring clear understanding of diagnoses, medications, treatment plans, and follow-up care in accessible language.

    Key Responsibilities

    Perform comprehensive patient assessments at admission and throughout each shift
    Identify and communicate changes in neurological or overall patient status promptly
    Administer medications and monitor for therapeutic and adverse responses
    Carry out provider-ordered procedures and clinical monitoring
    Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record
    Educate patients, families, and caregivers regarding neurological conditions and treatment plans
    Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
    Respond appropriately to changes in patient condition and escalate care when needed
    Support safe, evidence-based nursing practice within a neurology-focused environment

    Qualifications

    Minimum of 1 year of Registered Nurse experience required (any setting, including LTAC or Home Health)
    Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
    Current Florida RN license or approved multistate RN license required
    Compact license holders must obtain Florida licensure within 60 days of relocation
    Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
    Strong clinical judgment, communication, and patient care skills

    Schedule

    Day or night shift available
    Rotating weekends required
    Night differential: $4.25/hour
    Weekend differential: $3.00/hour
