The Department of Ophthalmology at Wake Forest University School of Medicine, part of Advocate Health—one of the largest non-profit health systems in the United States—is seeking a Neuro-Ophthalmologist to join our full-time academic faculty at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. This position supports the department’s mission of delivering exceptional patient care while advancing education, collaboration, and innovation within a growing academic health system.

Position Highlights

  • Provide specialized care for patients with complex visual disorders related to neurologic disease, including brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, stroke, and other disorders of the nervous system
  • Evaluate patients with unexplained vision loss, diplopia, visual field defects, and headaches
  • Collaborate closely with neurosurgery, neurology, otolaryngology, and other subspecialists across the institution
  • Serve as a consultant to referring physicians and provide direct patient care as part of multidisciplinary treatment teams
  • Teach and mentor ophthalmology residents, fellows, and medical students
  • Participate in clinical research and scholarly activity in a supportive academic environment

Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD or DO)
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Ophthalmology Residency
  • Fellowship training in Neuro-Ophthalmology
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Ophthalmology
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in North Carolina
  • Strong communication skills and a patient-centered, team-based approach to care
