Nesco Data Center is seeking an Network/Switch Hardware Install Technician.

Position: Network Switch Installation Technician

Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Network Installation Technician to perform onsite installation, connection, and basic commissioning of a Netgear GS724TP 24-port network switch in an end-customer environment. The technician will serve as the onsite hands-and-eyes for remote network engineers and must be comfortable following technical instructions, using a laptop and console cable, and completing the physical installation accurately and professionally.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and physically mount or place the Netgear GS724TP 24-port switch.

• Connect network, uplink, power, and patch-cable connections according to provided instructions.

• Label and organize cabling and verify port connections.

• Connect a laptop and console cable to assist remote engineers with switch configuration and testing.

• Perform basic connectivity and link-light verification and troubleshoot simple physical-layer issues.

• Communicate clearly with remote engineering teams and provide accurate onsite status updates.

• Document completed work, port connections, equipment location, and any issues encountered.

• Follow onsite safety, security, and customer access procedures.

Required Experience & Skills:

• Prior hands-on experience installing and supporting Ethernet/network switches.

• Familiarity with Netgear switches, preferably the GS724TP or similar 24-port managed switches.

• Working knowledge of Ethernet cabling, patch panels, RJ45 connections, VLAN/port concepts, and basic network connectivity.

• Experience using a laptop and console/serial or USB console connection to access network equipment.

• Ability to follow remote engineer instructions and technical documentation.

• Strong cable-management, labeling, documentation, and troubleshooting skills.

• Professional customer-facing communication and ability to work independently onsite.

Preferred:
CompTIA Network+, CCNA, or equivalent hands-on networking experience is a plus, but practical field experience installing and supporting network equipment is the primary qualification.
