Position Summary:

Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Network Services Engineer supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s C3I and Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI) at Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA. HNI provides enterprise support to  Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve installations and bases, delivering technical and policy support, as well as C3I infrastructure for USAF enterprise applications.

 

In this role, you will provide planning, analysis, design, testing, installation, and maintenance of networked systems used for the transmission of voice, data, and video. You will support the full lifecycle of network services, ensuring system performance, reliability, and cybersecurity compliance.

Responsibilities:

In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.

 

Duties include, but not limited to: 

  • Analyze and recommend network requirements based on mission needs.

  • Recommend and maintain network architecture and infrastructure.

  • Monitor network capacity, workload, and performance, and provide recommendations for optimization.

  • Diagnose and resolve network problems in a timely manner.

  • Recommend and implement network backup and recovery procedures.

  • Install, test, maintain, and upgrade network operating systems and related software.

  • Ensure compliance with DoD and Air Force cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services.

  • Support the integration and implementation of enterprise-level networked systems.

  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations during planning and design reviews.

  • Contribute to quality assurance and configuration of network systems.

Qualifications:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen

 

Minimum Required Qualifications
Clearance: Active Secret clearance
Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience (3 within DoD) OR

    • 15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications (5 within DoD)

Preferred Qualifications

Education: Master’s degree in a related field

Certifications: CCNP, Security+, Network+, or equivalent

 

Technical Skills

  • Experience with network architecture design and maintenance

  • Knowledge of network operating systems and enterprise-level network protocols

  • Proficiency in monitoring tools for capacity, workload, and performance management

  • Strong understanding of backup/recovery procedures and disaster recovery planning

  • Familiarity with DoD/AF cybersecurity principles and security controls for networks

Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Ability to work in a cross-functional, integrated product team environment

  • Problem-solving and analytical thinking skills

  • Capable of working independently and collaboratively under tight deadlines
