Network & Security Infrastructure Engineer
The Role
This role supports a high volume of customer-facing applications (balance inquiries, account activity, and related services) through a dedicated service chain. The engineer will build, maintain, and secure the network and infrastructure layer underpinning these services, ensuring reliability, availability, and security, and will work in close coordination with a global support team spanning the US, India, and UK.
Required Technical Skillset
The role is built around three core technology pillars.
1. Routing (Foundational – Required)
Deep, hands-on expertise in BGP and OSPF (used together in this environment)
Strong understanding of enterprise routing design and troubleshooting
2. Load Balancing & Certificate Management
F5 load balancers – configuration and troubleshooting
VIP setup and SSL/TLS certificate handling
GTM (Global Traffic Manager) experience
3. Firewalls
Cisco ASA – configuration and support
Fortigate – configuration and support
(Note: Checkpoint firewalls are no longer in the environment; not required)
Key Responsibilities
Build, deploy, and maintain load balancer, DNS, firewall, and routing infrastructure supporting customer-facing applications
Monitor infrastructure and system performance; identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues to reduce mean time to resolution
Manage SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle across load balancing platforms
Support change implementation during defined change windows (typically starting at 10 PM)
Collaborate with a global support model, coordinating handoffs with the India-based team for changes falling outside US working hours (generally after midnight)
Partner with cross-functional teams, architects, and business stakeholders to align infrastructure work with business needs
Apply automation and scripting where possible to reduce manual intervention
Maintain security best practices across firewall and network configurations
Ideal Candidate Profile
Prior experience supporting a customer-facing, production banking or financial services environment
Comfortable working within an incident-response/on-call-adjacent model with late-evening change windows
Able to work independently and communicate effectively with global (US/India/UK) team members
Strong troubleshooting instincts – able to "figure things out on the spot" under production pressure
