About the Role
Join a high-impact team leading the transformation of a large-scale AWS cloud security environment. As the Network Security Cloud Engineer, you will serve as the primary expert for cloud firewall modernization, driving the consolidation of traditional and cloud security operations as the organization migrates to a cloud-first architecture. This role offers the opportunity to shape security strategy, implement best practices, and mentor network engineers in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Assess and document the current AWS firewall and cloud security landscape
- Design, configure, and optimize AWS WAF and other cloud-native security controls
- Review and enhance firewall policies, rules, and security frameworks
- Modernize legacy cloud security solutions, aligning them with industry best practices
- Develop and automate scalable deployment processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to bridge traditional networking and cloud security concepts
- Configure and manage traffic routing, load balancing, and firewall integrations across cloud environments
- Perform security enhancements and rigorous testing in non-production environments
- Provide hands-on technical leadership, documentation, and knowledge transfer to upskill network engineers
- Act as the go-to technical subject matter expert throughout the engagement
Required Skills and Experience
- Extensive hands-on experience implementing and administering AWS WAF in enterprise settings
- Proven track record designing and building cloud firewall environments from scratch
- Strong foundation in cloud security architecture and firewall policy management
- Expertise in AWS networking and security services, firewall rule optimization, traffic routing, load balancing, and API security
- Demonstrated experience with automation and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform highly preferred)
- Ability to evaluate existing security environments and develop effective modernization strategies
- Excellent communication skills, with a focus on mentoring and training technical teams
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) security and firewall technologies
- Familiarity with Palo Alto Networks, Check Point, or other enterprise firewall solutions
- Proven success operating within large enterprise environments with mature security governance
- Additional experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools
