We are seeking a well-rounded Network Engineer to support the technology environments of multiple customers. The ideal candidate is a true "jack of all trades who can troubleshoot network issues, manage infrastructure, support cloud and Microsoft environments, and communicate effectively with both technical and nontechnical customers. You will handle a combination of escalated support, proactive maintenance, infrastructure projects, and customer implementations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support, troubleshoot, and maintain customer network environments, including firewalls, switches, routers, wireless networks, VPNs, and internet connectivity.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network, server, cloud, and endpoint issues escalated by the service desk.
  • Configure and manage VLANs, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, site-to-site VPNs, and remote-access solutions.
  • Install, configure, and support firewalls and other network security technologies.
  • Monitor customer environments and proactively address performance, availability, and security concerns.
  • Support Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Windows Server, and related identity and access technologies.
  • Assist with cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, network refreshes, new customer onboarding, and office openings or relocations.
  • Work directly with customers to understand business needs, explain technical issues, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Create and maintain accurate network diagrams, configurations, procedures, and customer documentation.
  • Coordinate with internet service providers, hardware vendors, and other third-party technology partners.
  • Participate in an after-hours or on-call rotation as needed.
  • Travel to customer locations when remote support is not sufficient.

Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in network engineering, systems administration, or infrastructure support.
  • Previous experience working for a Managed Service Provider is strongly preferred.
  • Broad technical knowledge across networking, servers, cloud services, security, and end-user technology.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, routing, switching, wireless networking, and VPN technologies.
  • Experience configuring and supporting enterprise firewalls, switches, routers, and wireless access points.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Active Directory, Group Policy, and Windows Server.
  • Experience supporting multiple customers or technical environments simultaneously.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to work through unfamiliar issues without needing a perfect playbook.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing requests and remain composed when customer systems are down and everyone suddenly remembers your phone number.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Cisco, Meraki, Fortinet, SonicWall, Ubiquiti, or similar networking technologies.
  • Familiarity with Azure, virtualization platforms, backup and disaster recovery, and endpoint security tools.
  • Experience with SD-WAN, multi-site connectivity, VoIP, or unified communications.
  • Familiarity with RMM, PSA, ticketing, and network monitoring platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as CCNA, Network+, Security+, Microsoft, Fortinet, or Meraki certifications.

What Makes Someone Successful in This Role

  • Comfortable moving between network engineering, systems support, security, and customer communication.
  • Able to take ownership of an issue from initial diagnosis through resolution.
  • Naturally curious and willing to dig into technologies or environments they have not seen before.
  • Proactive rather than purely reactive.
  • Understands that strong customer service is just as important as technical knowledge.
  • Enjoys the pace and variety of supporting multiple customer environments.
