Emergent Technologies Inc., a veteran-owned technology solutions provider based in Herndon, VA, is seeking a highly experienced Principal Network Engineer / Senior Network Architect to lead the design, deployment, and support of complex network infrastructures. This on-site position offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects supporting government and enterprise clients.
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- Minimum of 16 years of relevant professional experience in network engineering and infrastructure design
- Demonstrated experience delivering secure, scalable, and high-performance network solutions in mission-critical environments
Core Technical Expertise
Candidates must demonstrate deep, hands-on experience with:
- Enterprise-level network architecture, design, and implementation
- Core network technologies, including:
- Routing protocols such as EIGRP, BGP, and ISIS
- Switching protocols such as STP, LACP, and VTP
- Network automation and orchestration tools
- Cloud networking (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
- Software-defined networking (SD-WAN) solutions
- MPLS network deployment and operations
Leadership & Communication Skills
- Ability to provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
- Skilled in developing and maintaining comprehensive technical documentation, including network designs, implementation plans, and operational procedures
- Comfortable presenting technical solutions and architecture briefings to design review boards and stakeholders

- Self-motivated and able to learn and apply new technologies independently
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with a history of resolving complex network issues
