POSITION: NETWORK ENGINEER
SALARY RANGE: Minimum of $118,821 - subject to prior experience and Credentials
EXPECTED START DATE: Upon Hire and Notice
REPORTS TO: Director of Technology
SUMMARY: Responsible for all network and server hardware and software as applies to core systems
functionality and business continuance; Proficie ncy with Windows and Linux Operating Systems,
Veeam system backup software and Cisco networki ng systems; Creates and maintains Data Center
documentation according to best practices and i ndustry standards; Creates new user accounts, logon
scripts and creates and maintains group policy; K eeps current with technology as it applies to
operations through trade journals, education and traini ng; Oversees all Data Center specific on-site
vendor work. Periodically supervise and coordinate the activities of Department staff as delegated by
the Technology Director, which may include c onducting meetings, providi ng training, setting
priorities, assigning and overseeing pr ojects and tasks. Contributes to collaborative initiatives that
support District goals, student serv ices and professional growth. Pe riodically on call for network
interruptions or related system emergencies at the discretion of the Director of Technology.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Network
Engineering, Cybersecurity, or related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of education,
certifications, and experience will be considered.
- Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft 365
Administrator Associate, CompTIA Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA),
CompTIA Security+ (preferred)
- Minimum of 5-10 years experienced in a server / data center environment
- Experience working within an educational environment (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience / ability to apply effective problem solving and innovative ideas to seek
solutions to a variety of challenges or areas in need of improvement
- Ability to effectively read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals,
technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to effectively write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
- Expert knowledge of VMWare vSphere/ESXi virtualization technologies and virtual
desktop environments
- Ability to maintain critical backup and disaster recovery, and business continuity infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Entra ID (formerly Azure Active
Directory), Microsoft 365 administration, identity management, and cloud-based infrastructure

- Experience administering Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (SCCM), Microsoft Intune, and
enterprise endpoint management platforms
- Experience with network security technologies including firewalls, content filtering, intrusion
detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), endpoint security platforms, multi-factor authentication
(MFA), vulnerability management, and security incident response
- Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-class network, server,
storage, virtualization, and cloud environments
- Experience developing, testing, and maintaining disaster recovery and business continuity procedures
- Experience utilizing PowerShell, scripting, automation tools, or similar technologies to improve
operational efficiency and systems administration
- Experience utilizing network monitoring, performance analysis, logging, and alerting tools to maintain
system reliability and availability
- Maintain district switching and wireless infrastructure
- Ability to effectively document multiple projects
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups
- Ability to effectively speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communications
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and
deal with several abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to apply complex mathematical concepts to practical situations
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, Ethernet, network analyzers, protocols, VLANs, and spanning tree
- Competence in switch, router, and firewall configuration and management
- Demonstrated proficiency in the use of the Internet for communication, resource sharing and extensive
knowledge of existing Internet web sites
- Proficiency in current networking software and operating systems
- Demonstrated ability to learn new and emerging technologies

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all network server and phone system hardware and software as applies to core systems
functionality and business continuance
Responsible for troubleshooting, documenting network usage, and resolving network communications
problems
Creates and maintains user accounts, security groups, Group Policy Objects (GPOs), Entra ID identities,
authentication services, and device management policies
Provides server installation and on-going maintenance
Assists in network planning, design and monitoring while documenting network configuration and
enhancement solutions
Maintains District file servers, application servers, SCCM, Intune, databases Microsoft 365 services,
Entra ID, cloud infrastructure, and identity management systems
Maintain firewall, content filtering and security services, intrusion detection/prevention systems, endpoint

security solutions, multi-factor authentication platforms, and network access controls
Maintain IP telephony systems
Monitor, investigate, document, and respond to cybersecurity alerts, vulnerabilities, and security incidents
in accordance with district procedures.
Perform regular security assessments, vulnerability reviews, patch management activities, and
remediation efforts to ensure secure and reliable operations.
Maintain awareness of emerging cybersecurity threats and recommend proactive measures to protect
district systems and data.
Implement and maintain network monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance management systems to
ensure network reliability and business continuity.
Monitor network, server, and cloud infrastructure performance and recommend improvements to optimize
efficiency and reliability.
Develop, maintain, and periodically test backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans to
ensure system resilience and operational continuity.
Participate in long-range technology planning, infrastructure lifecycle management, capacity planning,
and network architecture design initiatives.
Plan and coordinate server, network, operating system, virtualization, and firmware upgrades in
accordance with industry best practices and vendor support requirements.
Utilize scripting and automation tools to streamline administrative processes, improve operational
efficiency, and reduce manual tasks.
Coordinate and oversee technology infrastructure projects, vendor services, and data center activities to
ensure timely and successful completion.
Support E-Rate eligible infrastructure initiatives and technology improvement projects as assigned.
Plan, document, communicate, and implement infrastructure changes in accordance with established change
management procedures.
Develop efficiencies in SSO capabilities, Microsoft Entra ID, cloud hosted solutions, 2FA, and
certificates
Assists in providing WAN and Internet technical support
Maintain District wireless network
Maintain the District backup and data recovery processes
Supports adherence to Board policy and district operating procedures on the use of technology
Keeps current in all technological updates related to network cybersecurity
Create and maintain system operations documentation
Monitors and performs diagnostic tests on server and network components for business continuity and
problem resolution
Create and maintain system change log
Create and maintain server and network performance logs
Establishes and maintains security procedures for staff access and utilization of the data management
systems
Collaborates with other departments to provide service, support, and technical training
Responsible for project management, as established by the Director
Periodically assists with resolving equipment work orders, as needed
Maintains regular and consistent employee attendance
Other duties as assigned by the Technology Director
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to operate a computer, view video
display terminals, reach with hands and arms, sit, use ha nds and fingers to grip, handle or feel objects, tools or
controls, talk and hear. Ability to lif t up to 50 pounds, such as printers, CPUs, monitors, etc. Specific vision
abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Employee is regularly required to
meet deadlines with severe time constraints and interact with staff and the public in addition to meeting multiple
demands from several people. Ability to travel to and from work sites. Ability to work a flexible work schedule,
