Description
Excelraise, LLC is seeking an experienced Network Engineer – Consultant to support the South Carolina Department of Revenue (SCDOR) in Columbia, SC. This 12-month contract role focuses on VMware infrastructure, enterprise SAN environments, Windows Server administration, network infrastructure, and capacity planning.
Candidates must have 13+ years of overall IT experience, 6+ years of state government experience, and 8+ years each in VMware ESX administration and enterprise SAN/VMware environments. VCP certification or qualifying equivalent VMware experience is required.
Job Responsibilities
This hybrid position requires three days onsite and two days remote per week. Candidates must currently reside in South Carolina, attend an onsite interview, and participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation. Relocation is not permitted.Design, implement, and maintain VMware ESX/ESXi infrastructure and enterprise SAN environments.
Perform capacity planning, infrastructure monitoring, and performance optimization.
Administer Windows servers, networked systems, hardware, and software.
Troubleshoot server, storage, virtualization, and network infrastructure issues.
Support backups, disaster recovery, failover testing, and system upgrades.
Maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, and support records.
Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams to implement solutions.
Follow information security policies and applicable compliance standards.
Support TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell, and change management activities as needed.
Participate in a shared 24/7 on-call rotation and provide timely status updates to stakeholders.
Qualifications
13+ years of overall IT experience.
6+ years of state government experience.
8+ years of VMware ESX administration experience.
8+ years of enterprise SAN and VMware environment experience.
VMware VCP certification or qualifying equivalent VMware experience.
Experience in technical capacity planning and infrastructure optimization.
Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration and network infrastructure.
Familiarity with disaster recovery, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and PowerShell.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Must be a current South Carolina resident; relocation is not permitted.
Must be available for three onsite days weekly in Columbia, SC, an onsite interview, and shared 24/7 on-call duties.
Must pass applicable pre-employment background, credit, and tax compliance checks.
