Position Function:
Network Architect is a position under administrative supervision of the Manager of Network Services in Information Technology Infrastructure. Specific activities include installation, maintenance, management, and support of data network electronics and software in an enterprise 40-Gigabit/100-Gigabit Ethernet network. Management and coordination of large-scale networking projects in an enterprise environment.
Salary Grade: 17

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Configure, deploy, and monitor MSU Campus Network infrastructure components such as routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
Evaluate, test, and recommend new network hardware and software.
Manage and coordinate large-scale projects.
Provide technical support and guidance to the other divisions within Information Technology Services and to the MSU community at large.
Meet regularly with other members of Information Technology Infrastructure staff to discuss current issues and future plans.
Manage and coordinate large-scale projects.
Be available weekends and nights for performance of duties as required.
Periodically, perform on-call duties by carrying a pager that alerts of system and network emergencies requiring immediate response 7x24.
Other duties as assigned.

May supervise other employees
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related area from an accredited institution or equivalent experience in an enterprise network administration position.
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience with a bachelor's degree or 7 years of direct industry experience without a bachelor's degree in at least one of the following areas:
