Electrical Field Test Technician (NETA Level I–IV)
About the role
If you know your way around switchgear, breakers and a power factor test set, we want to talk to you. We're hiring union field technicians to test, commission and maintain electrical power equipment across Colorado. You'll work on real infrastructure — substations, industrial plants, data centers, utilities — where your testing keeps the lights on and people safe.
We have openings at every level, Level I through IV. Whether you're an experienced NETA tech ready to lead crews or a sharp electrical hand working toward your first certification, there's a spot for you here, plus a clear path to move up.
Why techs choose us
- Top union scale: $41–$60.20/hr depending on experience and certification level.
- Overtime that pays: Time-and-a-half after 8 hours a day, double time after 10.
- Union medical and dental for you and your family.
- Union pension — real retirement security, not just a 401(k).
- Travel covered: Per diem and hotel paid when you're on the road.
- Relocation assistance for the right candidates.
- Room to grow: Structured advancement from Level I to IV, with support toward NETA certification.
What you'll do
- Test, inspect and maintain medium- and high-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, relays and cable.
- Run high-voltage test equipment, including power factor (Doble or equivalent), insulation resistance, contact resistance, TTR and hipot test sets.
- Commission new installations and verify equipment is ready to energize.
- Support planned outages and respond to emergency calls when customers need help fast.
- Document test results clearly and accurately, and flag issues before they become failures.
- Follow NFPA 70E and site safety practices on every job.
- Level III–IV: Lead jobsites, coordinate with customers, and mentor apprentices and junior techs.
What you bring
- NETA certification at any level (I–IV), or relevant electrical testing or maintenance experience and a commitment to getting certified.
- Hands-on experience with power factor or High Voltage testing strongly preferred.
- Comfort reading one-lines, schematics and test procedures.
- Willingness to travel 50–75% across the upper Midwest.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- A safety-first mindset and the ability to work independently or as part of a crew.
Bonus points for: substation or utility experience, protective relay testing, commissioning experience on large projects, or prior military electrical/ET background.
