Our client is seeking a Protection & Control Field Service Technician (NETA/NICET EPT III/IV) to support critical field operations.     Responsibilities & Expectations

    The P&C Technician will work on protection systems from 480V through 345kV, providing testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance support.

    Protection & Control Commissioning

    • Physical wiring and verification of field/non-factory wiring
    • Relay commissioning across multiple manufacturers and platforms
    • Network equipment configuration (LAN/WAN devices)
    • SCADA checkout planning and scheduling
    • Verification of full equipment functionality throughout commissioning
    • Ownership of assigned jobs from start to finish

    Outage Planning & Coordination

    • Preplanning outages with engineering, operations, and P&C oversight
    • Identifying reduced protection scenarios and assisting in mitigation
    • Coordinating startup, shutdown, maintenance, and testing tasks

    Advanced Relay Testing

    Testing of complex relay schemes, including:

    • Distance, directional power, reverse power
    • Negative sequence
    • Differential, motor, and generator protection

    Relay platforms include (not limited to):

    • SEL: 2411, 421, 411L, 311L, 487E, 351S, 587, 551, 487B, 487V, 451S, 351R, 287
    • GE: L90, B30, B90, T35, F35, C30
    • Communications schemes: DCB, DTT, POTT, UPLC

    Software & Tools

    Required working knowledge of:

    • SEL 5010
    • AcSELerator Quickset & Architect
    • GE URPC (Enervista)
    • Cooper SMP Manager
    • SG Config
    • Doble Protection Suite
    • HyperTerminal / Terra Term
    • Any additional commissioning tools/software as needed

    General Field Support

    • Support teams during maintenance, startups, shutdowns, and testing
    • Perform root-cause analysis and troubleshoot complex systems
    • Prepare accurate, detailed technical reports


    Qualifications & Competencies (Updated)

    • NETA Level III or IV (current or previously held)required
    • NICET EPT Level III or IV accepted in place of NETA
    • Associate degree in Electrical Technology preferred OR 2–5 years of relevant experience
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Computer proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD)
    • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
    • Minimum 3 years of driving experience with an unrestricted license
    • Ability and availability for periodic to continuous domestic travel

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs
    • Ability to pass a fit-for-duty physical exam
    • Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, or bend for extended periods
    • Capable of manual labor for 12+ hour shifts
    • Adequate hearing and vision for field work
    • Ability to work outdoors and in inclement weather
