Neonatal Nurse Practitioner
MercyOne Dubuque Medical Center is seeking a Part-time Neonatal Nurse Practitioner with a high degree of expertise in perinatal and neonatal health to join our team located in Dubuque, Iowa.
OPPORTUNITY DETAILS:
- The selected Neonatal Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for providing the assessment, evaluation, and treatment of neonates under the supervision of pediatricians.
- Additional Job Functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Function as the mid-level provider for newborn patients by:
- Assessing, planning, and evaluating medical care under the direction of the attending pediatrician.
- Reporting accurately and concisely to attending pediatrician and in problem-oriented documentation.
- Ordering and interpreting laboratory data and plain x-ray film as appropriate.
- Writing appropriate orders for medications, IV therapy, parental nutrition, blood products and for admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Attend high-risk deliveries, resuscitate, and stabilize patients.
- Stabilizing babies for transport to other hospital systems that require a higher level of care.
- Attend and provide newborn care, resuscitation and stabilization for all deliveries as required.
- Provide consultation to administrative, nursing, and medical staff.
- Participate in the ongoing competency assessment program for maintenance of advanced neonatal knowledge and skills of nursing staff.
- Participate in nursing education and ongoing competency assessment.
- Initiate and pursue self-development activities through readings, lectures and formal educational programs.
- Participate as appropriate in quality improvement and the formulation, revision and implementation of policies and procedures in Birth Center as appropriate.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of an accredited NNP program
- Unrestricted State of Iowa License
- Experience in a NICU for a minimum of two years
- Must be comfortable working independently as only 1 NNP will be scheduled per shift - providing coverage in the level II NICU, nursery rounds, attending deliveries, and performing circumcisions.
- BLS, ACLS, PALS Certification
- NRP Certification
- Clinical knowledge, current clinical competences, and analytical abilities necessary to formulate nursing and medical interventions.
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with patients, families, physicians, other health care personnel, and visitors.
RECRUITMENT PACKAGE:
- Competitive compensation plan - $1944 per shift
- .6 FTE - 4 shifts per month, 52 shifts per year - working 24-hour shifts
