Application review will be conducted as determined by the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority (MVRDA).

Fulltime, regular, non-exempt position with the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority (MVRDA). Fulltime, regular positions are eligible for MVRDA sponsored benefits.

Position is subject to drug screening, hearing examination and a criminal background investigation in accordance with applicable State and Federal regulations and Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority policies.

This position provides the Mesilla Valley Regional Dispatch Authority (MVRDA) with a means to manage the New Mexico and National Crime Information Center through auditing, training and certification of local terminal operators and validation of all records entered with MVRDA terminal operators into both systems to ensure the integrity of crime information in compliance with federal and State regulations. If PST certified and capable, this position may assist in dispatch and call taking operations in order to maintain adequate coverage levels.

Position involves competing demands such as strict deadlines, multiple tasks, and exposure to confidential crime information. Holiday, night and weekend work may be required. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services.

Position involves competing demands, performing multiple tasks, working to deadlines, maintaining confidentiality and responding to agency requests as needed. Position includes shift work outside of normal business hours with potential for overtime as necessary. Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity of services. Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in maintaining the New Mexico and National Crime Information Center in order to ensure the integrity of crime information in compliance with Federal and State regulations.
  • Conducts daily work by established polices and procedures set by the NCIC Coordinator.
  • Enters, supplements, modifies, clears and cancels records in NCIC.
  • Conducts quality control by reviewing entries and making necessary corrections.
  • Validates NCIC records by contacting the Courts and Law Enforcement agencies. Assists in maintaining a record keeping system for validations; updates status of each record manually and on-line using the Internet.
  • Responsible for confirming/locating wanted persons, stolen vehicles, stolen property nationwide (by ensuring the hit is identical and outstanding) and verify extradition limitations on wanted persons.
  • Assists in delivering various levels of training under the direction of the NCIC Coordinator and Training Supervisor for certification and re-certification of MVRDA terminal operators.
  • Monitors system use. Ensure all system users are following operating procedures for NCIC, NMLETS and CJIS. Provides technical and operational assistance when operators are experiencing problems with equipment and/or transactions.
  • Assists in all FBI/State audits to ensure federal compliance.
  • Represents MVRDA to local and state agencies.
  • If PST certified and capable, may assume duties of dispatch when necessary, including all handling and radio operations.
  • Operates a MVRDA vehicle in performance of duties.
  • Scanning, Data entry, and processing of NCIC related documents as necessary.
  • Must maintain NCIC TAC certification and keep up to date on CJIS and NMLETS policy and procedure changes.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent.

Experience:

Three (3) years experience in public safety area, three (3) years hands-on experience with NCIC.

Preferred experience includes two (2) years in Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) or 911 protocol software and

Licenses and/or Certifications Required

Valid NM driver license or equivalent issued by another state. Must obtain the following licensure/certifications within 6 months of hire: NCIC TAC certification. Must obtain the following licensure/certifications within twelve (12) months of hire: New Mexico Law Enforcement Accredited Instructor Certification.

Licenses and/or Certifications Preferred

New Mexico Public Safety Telecommunicator; Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD); CPR certification(s).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of: Microsoft Office Suite or related software; modern office practices and procedures; Preferred knowledge of Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) system and other 911 protocol software such as Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Law Enforcement Dispatch (LED) and Fire Dispatch (FD); E-911 and Public Safety Dispatch systems, operations, and policies and procedures. Must be knowledgeable in NCIC rules, regulations, and operating procedures.
