YOU MUST BE ANC CERTIFIED PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST TO APPLY. A Certified Peer Support Specialist provides support, advocacy, and guidance to individuals navigating mental health and/or substance use challenges. Drawing on personal lived experience, the Peer Support Specialist fosters hope, builds trust, and empowers clients to achieve their recovery goals.
Responsibilities:
- Build supportive, recovery-focused relationships with clients.
- Assist clients in developing coping skills, life skills, and wellness strategies.
- Provide education on mental health, substance use, and community resources.
- Support clients in navigating systems, including healthcare, housing, and social services.
- Accompany clients to appointments and community activities as needed.
- Facilitate peer support groups and individual sessions.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure client-centered care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services provided.
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Peer Support Specialist (state-specific requirements apply).
- Personal experience with mental health or substance use recovery and willingness to share insights.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish trust and maintain professional boundaries.
- Familiarity with recovery principles and trauma-informed care.
- Basic computer skills for documentation purposes.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (preferred).
