Are you a student who enjoys helping others, staying organized, and being part of a supportive campus community? Veteran Student Support Services (VSSS) is looking for a dependable and motivated Student Assistant to join our team!
As a Student Assistant, you'll be more than just an extra set of hands-you'll help create a welcoming environment where military-affiliated and veteran students can find the resources, encouragement, and support they need to succeed in college.
Job Summary
A student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties
Welcome students who visit the VSSS office and help create a friendly, inclusive environment.
Assist with check-in, scheduling, and general office tasks.
Help students connect with campus resources and VSSS services.
Support outreach efforts, including flyers, social media, email campaigns, and student engagement activities.
Assist with VSSS events, workshops, tabling, and student activities.
Help maintain program materials, supplies, and an organized student lounge.
Assist staff with data entry, filing, copying, and other administrative duties.
Help create a comfortable space where veteran and military-affiliated students feel that they belong.
Provide peer-to-peer encouragement and help students navigate campus when appropriate.
Take on special projects that support student success and the VSSS program.
Required Education
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.

Preferred Qualifications
Currently enrolled Wichita State University student in good academic standing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
Dependable, organized, and detail-oriented.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with event planning, customer service, or office work is preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
