    NATIONAL_SALES_TRAINING - TECHNICAL TRAINER

    PURPOSE

    Assist the National Training Manager and Senior Technical Trainer in the development and implementation of technical and product training programs, outcomes, curriculum, support materials, reference materials, pre-tests, post-tests, software, and hardware. Also, assists in the creation of multi-media and electronic training material that can be accessed remotely throughout the corporation.

    • Use your passion to tinker with and fix things to help our attendees learn about automation and our products
    • Conduct training sessions on SMC Technical Products, Automation Technology, Fluid Power, Electro-Pneumatics, Health & Safety, Policy, Leadership & Business topics as required.
    • Deliver in-person, video and remote training courses to SMC employees, distributors, and customers.
    • Apply effective interactive teaching techniques and practices and be willing to continue to improve.
    • Demonstrate technical expertise in subjects like automation, Basic Pneumatics, Electro-Pneumatics, Troubleshooting, vacuum, fluid power, English, physics and related fields.
    • Help maintain and manage the Training Department's mechanical, electrical and fluid power equipment.
    • Integrate technical, product and sales knowledge to communicate effectively with the students through written, electronic, video and written communication channels.
    • Accept and learn from the mentoring from the Senior Technical Trainer and the Training Manager.
    • Share training information with other SMC groups and subsidiaries as needed.
    • Travel to SMC locations, distributor sites or customer sites as required to teach mechanical, electrical and fluid power courses.
    • Assist the development and promotion of training programs.
    • Maintain training records for tracking purposes under the direction of the Training Manager.
    • Effectively explain complex technical/automation terms and concepts within the scope of our technical training and products.
    • Assist with the Training Department's Learning Management System (LMS)
    • All other duties as assigned.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time.
    • Moving and transporting training equipment up to 70 lbs. in weight.
    • Exposure to factory noise, cold, heat, dust, etc.
    • Occasional travel to other SMC, distributor and customer facilities as necessary

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

    • Ability to engage an audience with facilitation ability and hands on activities.
    • Bachelors degree in engineering OR 5 years equivalent manufacturing/technical experience will be considered.
    • 3 years of experience as SMC technical employee or closely related equivalent experience preferred.
    • Proven ability to provide exceptional SMC product training and pneumatic technology training.
    • Above average ability and aptitude in training is required.
    • Very high written and verbal communication skills.
    • Computer literacy with the ability to learn appropriate software.
    • Teamwork attitude.
    • Self-Directed.
    • Ability to build consensus and team work.
    • Perform duties with minimal direction if applicable.
