    Music/Band/Orchestra Tutor Lake Washington School District POSITION DESCRIPTION: 180 day working calendar SUMMARY: Assist lead band or orchestra teaching staff by supporting elementary students' instruction in instrumental music in a variety of formats. Plan lessons and activities in coordination with lead teacher to support students' growth in all aspects of music, including individual, ensemble, and large group settings. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Managing/teaching both small groups/sectionals and or large groups of students. Giving and recording individual and group assessments of students' skills Attend and attend/direct evening performances throughout the year (2-3 per year with 2-3 hours of total time commitment per performance). Supports safe school environment by maintaining order in classroom, monitoring student conduct, and addressing behavior issues. Supporting the teacher/program by helping tuning, instrument adjustment, occasionally transporting instruments for repair, preparing lessons, and organizing materials. Maintains strict confidentiality of student information. Other duties as assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITES: Able to read and play music for the purpose of instruction Ability to speak fluent English. Basic knowledge of computers and email. Good written and oral communication skills. Able to work effectively with groups of elementary age students Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with school staff and with parents Good interpersonal skills, with flexibility to work with others as a team player and with a diverse population.
