The School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, 11-month, tenure-track faculty position (#131310) as Director of Athletic Bands at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The start date for the position is August 1, 2025.
The successful candidate will be well-versed in contemporary approaches to athletic band pedagogy and programming, promote a student-centered learning environment, and positively represent the department and university to the broader community.
Key Responsibilities:
A terminal degree in music or a closely related field is required by the appointment date.
Applicants with the following will receive special consideration:
• Experience as a high school or college band director, including extensive experience with marching band instruction
• Experience as a concert band conductor
• Experience in drill design or arranging for athletic bands
• Collegiate teaching experience in related coursework
