THE JUNEAU-DOUGLAS CITY MUSEUM IS LOOKING FOR A MUSEUM HOST TO JOIN OUR TEAM FOR THE 2026 TOUR SEASON.

The City Museum is a part of the Library Department within the City and Borough of Juneau. Our small team at the City Museum enjoys sharing the art, history, and culture of the Juneau-Douglas area with our community and visitors from around the world. We appreciate our volunteers and enjoy collaborating with a wide range of organizations, artists, and other City and Borough of Juneau (CBJ) staff. We strive to create a collaborative, creative, and positive work environment.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone who is dependable and enjoys interacting with the public, providing outstanding customer service, and working with diverse groups.

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION

This position works at the City Museum three to five days per week when the museum is open to the public. This may include evenings and weekends. You will primarily work at the museum front reception desk.

Typical Responsibilities

Under immediate supervision, this position will be stationed primarily at the front reception desk of the Juneau-Douglas City Museum in order to welcome guests and ring up admission fees and sales in the POS system. This position will also assist staff with monitoring galleries and exhibits within the museum.

  • Ringing up admission, tours, and museum store sales.
  • Monitoring visitor activity to ensure adherence to museum policies and procedures.
  • Providing customer service to include; orienting guests to the museum, enforcing policies, interacting with guests, responding to visitor/staff requests, answering questions to the best of your ability in a courteous manner and or directing visitors to where they can locate information.
  • Guarding against theft, vandalism, and other damage.

Not less than 16 years of age at the time of appointment.
