This role supports defense transportation and logistics missions by applying extensive field experience to improve munitions movement processes, operational procedures, training, system requirements, and logistics data.

    What You Will Do

    • Provide subject matter expertise on military munitions loading, handling, packaging, preparation, staging, and transportation operations.
    • Advise program teams and mission stakeholders on munitions movement requirements across air, surface, and maritime transportation modes.
    • Evaluate munitions loading plans for operational feasibility, safety, regulatory compliance, aircraft, vehicle, and vessel limitations, and mission requirements.
    • Support development and validation of munitions movement procedures, standard operating procedures, business rules, and operational workflows.
    • Analyze operational processes and identify opportunities to improve the speed, accuracy, safety, and visibility of munitions movements.
    • Provide expertise on compatibility, segregation, weight and balance, hazardous material requirements, load configuration, and transportation restrictions.
    • Support the development and validation of requirements for logistics information systems supporting munitions movement.
    • Translate operational munitions requirements into functional and technical requirements for software developers, data engineers, testers, and analysts.
    • Participate in requirements analysis, system demonstrations, user acceptance testing, test events, and operational validation.
    • Review system outputs and data to ensure they accurately represent real-world munitions movement operations.
    • Identify data quality issues, process gaps, and discrepancies affecting munitions visibility and decision making.
    • Assist in developing dashboards, reports, and operational metrics supporting munitions movement visibility and decision making.
    • Coordinate with defense, transportation, logistics, installation, and other mission stakeholders as required.
    • Maintain awareness of applicable federal, agency, transportation, hazardous material, and explosive safety policies and procedures.
    • Document operational findings, recommendations, lessons learned, and process improvements.
    • Provide SME support during exercises, operational assessments, demonstrations, and other mission events.

    What We Are Looking For

    • 8+ years of military munitions, ammunition, explosive ordnance, or hazardous cargo logistics experience, preferably with direct munitions loading experience.
    • Demonstrated experience with military munitions handling, loading, transportation, staging, and movement operations.
    • Knowledge of military transportation processes and the organizations involved in munitions distribution.
    • Experience interpreting and applying applicable munitions, hazardous material, transportation, and safety requirements.
    • Ability to analyze complex operational processes and communicate recommendations to both operational and technical audiences.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently while collaborating with government, industry, and mission partner personnel.

    Preferred

    • Prior experience supporting defense transportation, joint logistics, service component, or related mission organizations.
    • Experience supporting munitions transportation planning at the installation, theater, or strategic level.
    • Experience with military logistics information systems and transportation management systems.
    • Experience supporting contested logistics, distributed operations, or operational planning.
