    Description

Multi Jet Fusion Production and Post‑Processing Technician

Join Empire Group’s additive team and turn powder into precision parts. Reporting to the Additive Manufacturing Technical Lead, you will run daily MJF builds end to end—from build prep and powder handling to finishing, inspection, and staging—while also pitching in on FDM and SLA when needed.

    A day in your role

    1. Review production travelers, priorities, and quality notes; stage jobs and materials.
    2. Prepare and load polymer powders, configure the MJF build, set parameters, and start the run.
    3. Monitor equipment and job status; record machine logs and address routine adjustments.
    4. Unpack cooled builds; depowder, clean, and bead blast parts for a uniform surface.
    5. Dye components to spec, sort by job, and stage for downstream operations.
    6. Install heat‑set inserts and other hardware per drawings and work instructions.
    7. Perform in‑process inspections to catch defects, dimensional issues, or missing features.
    8. Document quantities, scrap, rework, insert counts, and post‑processing notes.
    9. Coordinate with finishing, paint, quality, and production to keep work flowing.
    10. Clean equipment, change consumables, complete preventive maintenance, and reset for the next build.

    Core responsibilities

    • Execute daily MJF printing operations, including build preparation, setup, operation, monitoring, and job staging.
    • Handle polymer powders safely—loading, recovery, storage, and organization.
    • Unpack and process MJF builds: depowdering, cleaning, bead blasting, dyeing, sorting, and staging.
    • Install hardware (e.g., heat‑set inserts) to meet drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
    • Inspect parts throughout post‑processing and flag defects or inconsistencies.
    • Follow established travelers, written work instructions, quality standards, and schedule priorities.
    • Maintain organized staging areas for printed, cleaned, inspected, rework, and completed parts.
    • Perform routine machine cleaning, preventive maintenance, consumable changes, and readiness checks.
    • Maintain accurate records: job status, quantities, scrap, rework, machine logs, insert counts, and post‑processing notes.
    • Assist with FDM and SLA work: part removal, support removal, resin cleaning, curing, sanding, and staging.
    • Collaborate with finishing, painting, quality, and production personnel to keep throughput high.
    • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace; follow PPE, equipment safety, powder handling, and housekeeping practices.
    • Perform additional additive manufacturing and production support tasks as assigned.

    Required experience and skills

    • Hands‑on background in manufacturing, production, machine operation, shop work, finishing, assembly, or similar.
    • Mechanical aptitude and confidence operating production equipment.
    • Strong attention to detail; consistently follows written procedures.
    • Comfort handling small parts, tracking counts, and organizing multiple jobs simultaneously.
    • Ability to recognize visible defects, damage, missing parts, and installation issues.
    • Basic computer proficiency for documentation and job tracking.
    • Ability to work safely around powders, compressed air, heated tools, bead blasters, and industrial machinery.
    • Dependable, organized, and effective working independently or on a team.
