Role at a Glance
As a Multi-Craft Equipment Rebuild and Coatings Specialist in Chattanooga, TN, you’ll prepare, apply, and finish coatings on a wide variety of industrial parts—supported by training on machining, grinding, dynamic balancing, thermal spray, and chrome plating.
What You’ll Do
- Read engineering drawings and follow detailed work instructions.
- Measure and verify specs: thickness, dimensions, TIR, and surface roughness.
- Mask parts to protect critical features during coating.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area and complete required safety training.
- Operate forklifts, hoists, and other part-moving equipment safely.
- Use lathes, OD/ID and cylindrical grinders, sandblasting, coating, polishing, and buffing equipment to process parts.
- Perform routine operator maintenance on machines.
- Document work accurately using software and spreadsheets.
Training You’ll Receive
- Precision measurement tools: dial indicators, micrometers, thickness gauges, pi tape, surface profilometers.
- Surface prep: visual inspection and sandblasting techniques.
- Coating processes: plasma, HVOF, twin wire arc, and plating rectifiers.
- Finishing: achieving specified finishes, including mirror-quality surfaces.
- Machining/Grinding: manual lathes, cylindrical grinders, positioners, and additional shop tools.
- Diagnostics: issues common to rotating equipment components.
Ideal Candidate Traits
- Mechanically inclined, hands-on, and eager to learn multiple roles.
- Comfortable with variety and pace; focused on getting it right the first time.
- Sees challenges as opportunities and focuses on root cause.
Preferred Background (Not Required)
- Experience with lathes, mills, and cylindrical grinding.
- Operating cranes and hoists.
- MIG, TIG, or stick welding.

- Owns productivity and quality targets aligned with customer needs.
- Strong problem-solving mindset.
- Basic computer and data entry skills.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Technical certificate/degree a plus.
- Lean/5S exposure preferred.

Schedule & Hours
- Weekend shift: 5am-5pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Initial training is Monday-Friday, 5am-1:30pm.
- Weekday shift: 5am-1:30pm Monday-Friday.
- Overtime may be required. Expected 40-50 hours per week.
